I-225 & Colfax bridge
Our involvement with this project began during the design stage and included developing detailed shop drawings, cutting and drilling the materials of multiple sizes and shapes, and installation completion.
We worked with General Contractor Kiewit, RTD, the project architect and the materials supplier, 3form, to complete the design that would meet the visual concept and intent of the architect. We communicated with other trades throughout the duration of the project, from the structural steel to the gutter fabricators and electrical contractors, to assist in a cooperative team environment, assuring clear and efficient methods for successful results.
Sealing the ½” gap required for expansion and contraction in between the steel structure and the polycarbonate. Proper sealing was achieved by using the manufacturer’s recommended silicone and highly experienced field technicians that knew how to fill a gap that wide.
Keeping the architect’s goals in mind, all parties worked together in creating a durable, weather resistant canopy that would protect commuters waiting for the train from the elements and retain form and function for years to come with minimal maintenance.
